Breast Cancer Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAW), which is observed all over the world thanks to the efforts of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and the many people who work tirelessly to increase awareness and early detection. Women are encouraged to perform regular self breast examinations (SBE) every month, and have a yearly breast examination by a primary care provider or gynecologist. It is also recommended that women over the age of forty have an annual screening to detect any changes in breast tissue, or more frequently depending on personal or family history and other risk factors. Early detection is presently the best way to fight the disease, which is why regular monthly self breast examination and mammography is so important.

Breast Cancer Month and the Pink Ribbon campaign have been extremely successful in raising awareness, and increasing support for more breast cancer research focused on prevention and a cure. Most everyone recognizes the significance of the pink ribbon; it stands for awareness of a devastating disease that does not have a cure, and the need for continued research and early detection. Breast cancer treatments have proven to be successful, even more so if the disease is diagnosed in the early stages. Major corporate sponsors of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and other charitable organizations supporting breast cancer research, have made great contributions through the sale of Pink Ribbon merchandise and corporate advertising campaigns. These charitable donations benefit breast cancer victims, survivors, and make funds available for continued awareness efforts and research.

More women than ever now get annual screening mammograms thanks to Breast Cancer Month and other awareness efforts, which have contributed immensely to greater survival rates. Mammography can detect the smallest lesion that cannot yet be palpated by touch, again demonstrating how important it is for women to have regular mammograms. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is just around the corner. Do your part by participating in annual activities such as the Susan G. Komen Run/Walk for the Cure, which raises a significant amount of money for continued breast cancer research, and promotes self breast examination and early detection. Many women have lost their lives due to this devastating disease, which is why present efforts must be continued to teach every woman about breast cancer and the risk factors. The next Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October, 2006; educate a friend or family member about breast cancer and early detection. You may not only save your life, but that of another.

Breast Cancer Foundation

Our world is filled with afflictions. Some are mental, and oodles of others are related to human health. As time moves forward, science and technology are getting better at dealing with both categories. However, this is not to say that we have cures for whatever ails you, because we simple don't. If we did, the world just might be a perfect place. Now, back to reality. Probably the worst health issue currently known to mankind is cancer. I choose this illness in particular because we seem to have so much trouble preventing and fighting it. When it comes to a number of other diseases, people have choices. They can prevent them if they choose to be prudent. But with the big C, things aren't so simple. Since our bodies all contain cancer cells, it's difficult to tell if they will react in a negative fashion and turn on us, hence destroying our body from the inside out. One of the worst types of cancer is that of the breast. Naturally this is why a breast cancer foundation was started. Are you taking the necessary precautions with this awful disease?

For many it's not a synch to pay for cancer treatments. Fortunately there is a breast cancer foundation that can help. We should all take pride in donating to such an organization that has a sole purpose of providing funds and assistance toward victims and research. After all, let's face it, cancer always requires better health insurance and more research. The breast cancer foundation and those who're involved will continue down this path until an answer is found. We need that almighty, much-desired cure. This is what we're constantly searching for, and it makes no sense to stop researching until it's discovered. Treatment is all fine and good when it's all you have, but a cure is ideal.

Even you can get involved with the breast cancer foundation or other cancer foundations for that matter. It's all about donating a little extra cash you might have laying around. There are also bracelets available for purchase that helps support the breast cancer foundation. Do your part! With everyone pitching in, so much more gets accomplished. This is the only way we can work to defeat this terrible health affliction.

Issues Of Concern From Bone Cancer

Health issues are a large concern for most adults. When we are children, teenagers and young adults, we feel invincible. But as we grow older and begin to take on the responsibility of having children of our own we begin to realize how precious and short our time on earth truly is. It seems that instead of more cures and answers to aliments there are more diseases and disorders. One of the disease’s that has rocked our community is bone cancer. A beloved member of our community has been diagnosed with this and each of us is trying to cope with it.

We live in a small close knit lake community. Our school is very small there are about fifty children in each grade. The lakes area is so beautiful so most of the teachers live in the community. Everyone seems to know everyone else. We work together, socialize worship and recreate on the lakes together. When something happens to one person we are all affected. One of the most popular girls in our community went away to college and then returned to teach in our school. She also coached the volleyball squad and sang in the church choir. She is one of those people that lights up a room by walking into it. A few months ago she started experiencing pain in her lower back. She joked about this with some of the parents. She said that she must be getting older because she was starting to find it hard to keep up with the volleyball team at practice. After several weeks of seeing her limp at games and in church I asked her how she was doing. She told me that she was going to the doctor the next day to have an MRI done to see if she had torn a ligament. A few days later my daughter came home from school crying. She said that the volleyball coach has bone cancer and that she is not going to get better.

We had a meeting at church that night. When I arrived at the meeting I could tell be the glum expressions on everyone’s faces that the news must be true. Our lovely young coach and soloist was dying of bone cancer. One of the members of the committee that was meeting is a doctor. He explained that he was not the coach’s doctor but from what he knew about bone cancer is that it starts somewhere else and spreads to the bones. By the time the cancer is to the stage that there is pain, the initial infected area is beyond treatment.

Our coach is still alive, however she is losing strength very quickly. The bone cancer is spreading and limiting the amount of time she can be on her feet. Her courage and grace is teaching all of us a lesson on how fragile and short life is. The children are learning to cope with death at an early age. They are already committing their time to raise money for research for a cure for bone cancer.

Types Of Cancer That Effects Human Lives

There are many afflictions to worry about in this day and age. Health issues are probably at the top of this list. Many of these are terrifying simply due to the fact that we can't prevent them. We humans hate things we can't prevent. We don't even like to ponder such frightening issues. However, it's clear that avoiding issues gets us nowhere. Take the numerous types of cancer for example. Is there really any point in blocking this dismal topic out of our minds? I think not. All we can do is deal with it, like we do every other health affliction, and search high and low for cures and treatments that are better than the ones we currently have. Unfortunately there is a long road ahead of us.

Do you know or have you ever known someone who has cancer? The odds say that you probably do. I have known a few individuals in my life that have grappled with several types of cancer. My aunt on my mother's side suffered from lung and kidney cancer. The doctors deducted that her kidney cancer was the result of pesticide run-off her water. They had farms near their home, and this was where it came from. It's terrible to think about, but yet it's certainly a reality for many. The solution to this dilemma is obvious. Now, what about the other types of cancer? No one can really avoid the issue of lung cancer. Just take a look around at all the idiots still smoking. Get a clue people! DUH! Smoking clearly and without a doubt leads to lung cancer. No one feels sorry about what you purposely inflicted on yourself. This is just utter insanity. I would think with all the health problems floating around these days, folks would avoid the obvious one. Why impose harm on your body if you don't have to?

If you have no clue regarding the many types of cancer, then it's time to get educated. Maybe you're no interested in a library full of research on types of cancer. This is understandable. However, what about cyberspace? Get on the old laptop and see what's up. The reason for gaining this knowledge is simple. There are things you can do to decrease your chances of acquiring any types of cancer. Isn't it time you got in-the-know?

Cancer Information For Prevention And Cure

The world can look bleak and harsh at times. While many aspects of life are phenomenal, there are of course a few that create heartache and sadness. I guess we just have to accept the good with the bad. After all, we'll never know what it's like to live in a utopia. One aspect of life as we know it is disease. There's no getting around the misery caused by cancer. Millions of individuals are afflicted with this disease and unfortunately it's in the gene pool. Therefore there's no way to prevent cancer completely. You can try your best to live healthy and stay fit, but it won't absolutely prevent the big C. One thing you can do is acquire as much cancer information as possible. The more you know, the better off you are.

My aunt and her husband both died from cancer. They lived on a farm where pesticides continually polluted their drinking water. I know what you're thinking; this is not the first time this has occurred. I'm sure others have been affected in this very same way. It's sad when I think about it, because the right cancer information could have prevented this tragedy. What you know can truly save your life. As far as my aunt and her husband were concerned, they simply found out too late. What I have trouble understanding is how they didn't know they were in danger. Fields around their home were routinely sprayed with chemicals and they drank well water. Not city water. It baffles me to this day. This kind of cancer information was available in the 1990s. All they had to do was examine their situation. Something that's nearly impossible not to do these days.

Read all you can and find out about numerous causes of cancer. That cancer information you obtain today can really save your butt in the future. Some things I found out a few years back were to buy organic foods, avoid processes foods, and steer clear of inks and dyes on paper towels when using them for cooking. There are numerous little things. The more obvious cancer information is to avoid smoking, chewing tobacco and heavy drinking. All of which lead to certain types of cancer. Learn more about this relentless disease today. A healthy lifestyle is certainly crucial in preventing cancer and other health problems.
